Poject Details

M+H Architects were selected to provide architectural services for a new residence for Jesuits at the White House Retreat Campus in St. Louis County. Located on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River, the character of the campus is defined by turn-of-the-century limestone buildings with steep pitched, slate roofs. The Jesuit Residence is nestled in a meadow surrounded by towering trees and sloping terrain, and complement’s the campus with the use of a stone façade, steeply pitched roofs, and dormers. The building has a 3,200sf sleeping wing with eight private living quarters and 2,500sf of shared living space including kitchen and dining areas, living room and library, and a chapel and parlor. Below the sleeping wing is a 3,200sf walk-out lower level with a fitness area, workshop, and storage space. The residents' automobiles are housed in a combination garage and carport attached to the main level.
